Legal Files Software, Inc. today announced it has entered into an agreement with NASA, licensing and implementing its best legal document management and case management/docketing system for multiple areas within the agency. The company’s namesake solution, Legal Files, has already been implemented for the agency’s Office of General Counsel, while implementation for the NASA Acquisition Integrity Program is underway.
Legal Files is providing an enterprise, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution that will be utilized across disparate NASA centers for the purpose of providing a unified and consistent solution across the agency. Previously, NASA had multiple siloed solutions in use supporting the Office of General Counsel. Some locations were still paper-based using standard Microsoft Office products to track matters and cases. Other NASA centers were using case and document management systems that were implemented to meet the business needs of only one, specific center.
Legal Files is being provided for approximately 200 users at NASA Headquarters and other NASA centers including Ames Research Center, Armstrong Flight Research Center, Glenn Research Center, Goddard Space Flight Center, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, Langley Research Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA Headquarters, NASA Management Office, NASA Shared Services Center and the Stennis Space Center. Each location has a Chief Counsel Office that reports to the NASA General Counsel at NASA Headquarters.
“Legal Files’ ability to be scalable across the NASA Legal Community and provide the robust agency-wide knowledge management functionality required made it ideally suited to meet the agency’s needs,” Legal Files Project Implementation Specialist Dave Reiher said. “We are honored to be able to work along with a very good team at NASA on this project, and we look forward to continuing to build our relationship with NASA.”
The rollout, undertaken in a phased approach, also involves Legal Software, Inc. team members providing the conversion of multiple databases and document repositories, as well as training, project management and other services.
Demonstrating its versatility to meet the legal management and workflow needs of all types of organizations, Legal Files is also being used by FINRA, Navy Recruiting Command, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission and other agencies representing other levels of government, as well as corporate legal departments, universities, insurance companies and leading law firms throughout the U.S. and Canada.
