“Legal Files does exactly what we want.”
Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) has successfully implemented Legal Files, the premier legal case management software from Legal Files Software, Inc., in the University’s Office of University Counsel.
The Office plans to use Legal Files to manage all files and legal matters, including litigation, discovery, advisory and other types of matters more efficiently, with the long-term goal of having nearly all files in an electronic format, eliminating paper records and the cumbersome manual processes those entail.
“We were mainly using paper files along with Microsoft 365,” University Counsel Carolyn A. Magnan said. “We had Outlook, shared/local drives and lots of paper. But we were missing the unification that Legal Files provides.”
Since office employees were working from the home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the implementation process was a bit different than first planned, Magnan said, and the investment was a good one. “We worked with Legal Files to configure the system to reflect what worked in our manual processes. But, most importantly, we have now combined all the disparate things we were doing manually into a centralized electronic system. Legal Files does exactly what we want.”
Administrative Assistant Denise Chancey agreed. “Who would imagine that now when we get an email request for legal service, public information, or whatever it is, we’ll be able to open a file directly from the email? From the very first training session, I couldn’t contain myself. Legal Files is going to be fantastic, I thought.”
The Office of University Counsel advises the president, the vice presidents, chief officers, and deans concerning a variety of issues and assists the Office of the Attorney General in the defense of the University and its agents in administrative and judicial forums.
